Hey I'm Brian with Little Homestead, Big Dreams (formerly Next Level Homestead). If this is your first time here... welcome! I'm glad you're here! If you're a longtime friend, welcome back!!
For most of my life I was a city boy, gardening in the suburbs. I was the first generation in my family to not grow up on a farm and somehow it was still there inside me. So now my wife Emilie, son Noah and I have moved to a small farm (at least it will be) and we're documenting our journey on this channel. Building gardens and chicken coops, buying a dairy cow and who knows what else lies in store. But we can't wait to take you with us!

Great job on the sod, Brian--looks amazing! 😊
So glad.you got the ok you have achieved so much in a short time looking great sod gives the finishing touch
U R G E NT! READ preceding msg re magnesium
Brian, I think Ive mentioned this before to you, not sure. Do you take Magesium bisglycinate everd day, preferably in p.m.as it helps with sleep. Men on average need 600mg day and women 400, but anyone as active as you should take even more (away from meds by 1 or 2 hrs). Magnesium needs vit D3 (5000 I.U/day along with 200 mg vit k2, usually taken together in a.m with a fat (omega) to be best absorbed. Mag controls about 300 functions in body...stress, acid reflux, muscle spasms, constipation, migraines, everything to do with heart, muscles and so much more
Dehydration & low electrolytes. Anxiety feels like a pre-heart attack, pain, can't catch breath, etc.
I'm 45 years old and NEVER had anxiety in my life, that's before 3 weeks ago and i started suffering from that and had to go to the ER what a horrible experience. So many people suffer from that and it's ok to go to the ER to get checked. Glad you're doing ok. ❤😊
Nice video! How much acreage do you own?
I am curious if you plan to put some sort of border next to the sod. Is that the driveway next to it?
Goat poop is the little round balls… I have 5 goats
It looks so so much better! What a transformation!
Regarding health in general, much of our ailments/diseases are caused by an imbalance in nutrition. You can have a full blood test for vitamin deficiency and see what is going to help you regain what is missing in quality of life. You can also have your hormone levels tested and supplemented. And sometimes, it's too much of one thing, that depletes normal levels in another. Get those blood tests done that cover these aspects. One place to check out is a center that does hormone replacement therapy (yes, for guys too) and they can do the blood work, tests, and get you fixed up. These things can help you keep your chin up!
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I learn so much from your videos. You are wise to look for assistance with health issues. ❤ to you and your family as well as Bella and Daisy!
I have struggled with chest pain for a long time and thought it was anything from indigestion to broken ribs to heart attack and been checked out form most things. One time it was broken ribs. About a month ago I was watching a video from kelly Hogan and she was explaining her issues with the same pain I had. It is costochondritis and can be caused by stress and foods. Through trial and error I have since found that some artificial sweeteners, processed oils, processed carbs and sugar seem to be the worst foods, all the things I tend to reach for when I feel stressed. If I stick to the clean whole food low carb diet that I unusually follow I don’t get any pain.
Hey Brian! I was curious if your anxiety heartburn gerd indigestion type ailments begin feeling like a tightness like a fist in the top of your chest? I get that when I feel the pressures of life start to bear down. Hadn’t really linked it to a possible anxiety diagnosis until just now actually. Usually the onset of the indigestion comes tied to bad diet that day or days, maybe poor sleep tied to drinking. When I give my body a rest and get good sleep and eat right it seems to be kept at bay. But when that tightness kicks in it’s really debilitating causing me to have to lay down motionless for a while 30-60mm. Oddly drinking seltzer water forces me to burp and relieves the tightness for a little bit. It’s almost like you can mind over matter the solution. Anyways, thanks for enlightening and amazing all your viewers. The progress on your land is unreal!! 👏
Lol. You keep saying mid 80s and TN over here is 95 and higher!
You live in very sensory unfriendly environment now. There is constant noise and vibration around you. It might contribute to your anxiety issues. Make sure to go to quiet sensory friendly environments every now and then. Remember noise is pressure in the air. Do not let this pressure squash you. You have airplanes flying over your head every few minutes. They produce not only noise and lead poisoning but also vibration. Constant vibration can be very detrimental to organs, especially heart and lungs. Be safe ♥
You think you’re going backward with the progress you made in therapist but you just go deeper. I’ve had anxiety and have been am in therapy for years. You might want to look up Andrew Weil and his 4, 7 8 breathing technique. It’s pretty good if you practice consistently. Start with 5 minutes and increase the time going forward. Do it daily. 😊
They are sooo cute!!!!😅
Good to hear you are feeling better. Thanks for sharing what you got completed.
An oleander almost killed my Great Dane puppy 11 years ago. After a night of detox in the vet, I’ll never have one on my property.
I so hope you are proud of all that you do
It’s looking great. You inspire me to add drip lines in my garden because I walk around with my hose. It’s 100 outside today. Sometimes my gut biome makes my heart race and both my sons have anxiety. It’s not fun. With all your yard work maybe you should take electrolytes. I use LMNT because there’s no sugar or dyes. Take care
ADHD makes life sooo interesting!! I've been working on waaaay too many gardening projects all at the same time!! So, at the end of your video, I chuckled to myself when you pointed out the leftover sod... & said you could put in on the other side of the driveway.... hahahaaa. Yup... not that easy, cuz, as you said, the area needs irrigation, gopher wire, topsoil, & then cut the sod to fit!! I can totally relate!! Glad you went to the ER.... better safe than sorry... and after the tests said you were 'ok', it did definitely ease your anxiety. Thank you for being so candid, honest & perpetually busy... which is so motivating!!
The sod really transformed the cottage garden! I’m so sorry for your health issue (our minds can definitely create havoc in our bodies) so I’m glad you were checked to rule out heart problems.
Do you have trouble with fly strike in sheep where you are. We spent the morning dagging out our lambs to try avoid maggots which are a big problem here in the UK.
Yep. Even called 911 once and had an ambulance come because i thought i was having a cardiac/blood pressure episode. Ended up being a SEVERE panic attack. 😒 So frustrating but so glad i went for the assurance that i wasn't dying! That sod looks amazing!
Love sod. Just instant transformation. Looks amazing!
It’s wild how anxiety can wreak havoc on your mind and body. Prayers for your continued healing. 🙏🏻 Also, the cottage garden is looking amazing! The grass really completes the look. 😊
I’ve never heard of oleander. I guess it’s frequently used in CA but I dont see it in my state. Glad you’re getting rid of it. Also ps I love your chicken house. One of a kind❤ I really want a pond on my property, but we have underground springs and I’m afraid that wherever I dig the pond might bleed dry as the water sucks out into the ground. Thinking it through though. Thx for showing us your process.
I’ll never see black beans the same😂😂😂
The grass looks great! Hope you continue to feel well
I’m glad your doing better!❤ love watching the progress on your gardens and landscaping! AND I LOVE the Goonies shirt! Best movie ever!!😂thanks for another great video, I suffer from anxiety as well, not as bad but still, glad you went to the ER just in case! Love the new lawn! Take care of yourself! ❤🎉
Congratulations! Just the forefront that you needed to set that beautiful landscape off. The transition from manicured grass to rustic log terrace is striking. At the back nestled behind all the beautiful flowers and trees is a tudor-style cottage and the chicken run. So much whimsy in a small area. Bravo!
You've mentioned on a few occasions that you also have ADHD. Are you on meds? I was on Adderall for over a year up until about a month ago and was on Vyvanse before that. Over the last year, I had more anxiety than ever and I was easily getting annoyed about the dumbest little things and was becoming slightly angry. My ADHD wasn't getting any better and my mind was constant chaos still and the more projects I got myself into, the more overwhelmed I got leading to more anxiety. It wasn't until a month ago when I told my doctor that my ADHD wasn't getting better on the meds and we switched to concerta that I realized that the amphetamines were actually causing my anxiety, increased heart rates and anger. I was taking anxiety meds twice a day and now since switching, I don't really take them at all unless I'm actually struggling. I'm able to focus more as well. Just thought I would put that out there just in case it might help you or someone else.
So glad everything is great with you Brian you no you could post the sod to me if nowhere to put it lol, it looks so good now I just love how you think about what you really want on and for your property I love that about you, I try to do it also but the things I want to do cost some money 💰 so I do the little things first, Brian and Emily keep up the good work 👍❤❤❤
Such pretty eggs
How ingenious to put the drip tube through the bottom of the planter. I learn so much from you.
That is an immense amount of hard work! Beautiful job! Love it!
Looks great! You are amazing.
Wow what a difference that sod made. Glad you are feeling better.
Everything looks really great Brian. I thought I'd pass along a tip about working with the 1/4" drip line. When you need to pull apart any of the connector barbs or push them together (particularly when it's a little chilly out) they can get a little stubborn, getting them to seat fully. So I use a BBQ lighter to soften the end of the tube. Just a couple of seconds and they slide right on and off. When things go easier, it makes me happier in the garden. And yes, I have as much as I can on drip! Total game changer! Best Wishes!
I felt like I was having a heart attack but it turned out to be pericarditis where you get an infection in the sack around your heart and the fluid in that space puts pressure on your heart and you have the tingling in the arm (mine was my right arm) it’s so painful. I sometimes end up in hospital on an antibiotic drip. Eventually it subsides and all is good. Take care Brian. Hugs from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺.
Wow. Looks amazing. You work so hard and its turning out beautiful. Stop and smell the roses...one day at a time. Great job
It looks amazing congratulations🎊😊❤
It looks great! Magical. You are so creative. Really appreciate you.
So glad you went to get checked - not it's off your mind and can deal with how you feel!! Sod looks just amazing!!!
As you can tell. You are not alone. I too ended up in ER with same type if conditions. And it turns out i had acid reflux. We went through several years of chaos and stress. And i suffered PTSD. And my doctor and therapist said my body was letting me know i need to change the way I deal with stress. I am not comparing or down playing your situation. But i totally get it. I am doing so much better with my changes. Hamg in there.
Brian I just found a new project for you maybe as I seen you cleaning the stall for Daisy a nice set of compost Bend right next to the coral. But glad to see your in a better place
Looks amazingly beautiful
Wow! It looks beautiful. You have done such great work on your property.
